I am the founder of Discover & Dream, dedicated to helping families sleep better! I am a certified, holistic pediatric sleep consultant who offers services globally. I completed my training and certification with the Institute of Pediatric Sleep and Parenting and is a member of the International Association of Child Sleep Consultants. I am currently studying a second certifiication that specializes in Holistic Sleep Coaching. Prior to sleep consulting, I worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in a skilled nursing facility along with seeing patients in their homes. My training as a speech therapist provides me with expertise in sleep hygiene, infant development, oral motor development/airway, and routines.
When starting my holisitc journey and with divine timing, Reiki entered my life in 2021 and empowered me to change my future. With this wild, crazy, and beautiful journey of motherhood and the daily stressors that can happen, Reiki has helped me reduce my stress levels, become and feel more balanced, boost my energy levels, and improved my sleep. Reiki has truly improved my life and health, and I want to share this benefit with others. Since starting my spiritual journey and becoming a Reiki Master, I have enjoyed sharing the power, light, and love of Reiki with others. Virtually, I provide distance Reiki sessions to babies, children, and adults. I love helping people release the blocked energy that is often the root cause of distress or pain. I help them reach a place of relaxation, balance, joy, focus, and feel a sense of renewal. Reiki is beneficial and safe for everyone. Because it is spiritually guided, Reiki can never cause harm.
When my first son was born, I decided that staying home was the best option for my family. Being a stay-at-home mom isn’t easy and feeling the effects of sleep deprivation made things even harder. I found myself overwhelmed by the amount of advice out there regarding baby sleep. Everything I read online or with advice from family and friends seemed to conflict with something else.
With many sleepless nights and difficulty with getting my first son to sleep, I learned how to navigate some of his sleep challenges. Things greatly improved and I started to feel more energized, calm, and relaxed during the day all because I was getting more sleep. I decided to change my life’s work to a newfound devotion to help other families get a better night sleep!
As time went on, my son's sleep didn't seem restful or restorative to me, although he was "sleeping" the recommended number of hours per the National Sleep Foundation. Something told me that the quality of his sleep was poor, and this led me to learn about sleep-disordered breathing (SDB). He was showing many red flags and I had no idea. We began a deep investigation with him and sought different professionals. We saw a sleep specialist when he was around 3 years old, and he was diagnosed with moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). He was struggling to breath while sleeping where he stops breathing and he awakes several times at night for survival. No wonder why he didn't seem like he was getting good quality of sleep, because he wasn't!
His body was not getting into a deep sleep which resulted in him being fatigued during the day, overly emotional while showing some behavioral issues such as ADHD symptoms and so forth. All of this was due to lack of restorative sleep. With time, patience, and treatment my son is a different kid today. I am so grateful for our team of specialist who have helped us with our journey. It has made me a better sleep consultant as I now can recognize the symptoms and red flags to help you get to any root or underlying sleeping issues with your baby or child.
I have combined all my training and experiences to help the entire family thrive comprehensively and holistically. I help support babies, children, and families to get more sleep through relationships and connection, without any cry it out methods. We will achieve more sleep in a respectful and responsive way by discovering strategies that will work for the entire family. I work individually with families using gentle and responsive- but effective sleep strategies to help their little ones get back on track with their natural sleep rhythm, and to meet the sleep goals of the family.
I truly understand there is no one size fits, everyone's temperament traits and sensory preferences impact sleep. Therefore I take the time to get to know the family seeking help, their environment, situation, parenting style, and the personality and temperament of the baby or child and work with them to co-create a plan that is perfect for them- and gets them all back to sleep!
